"Visited Charleston for the first time and stayed 3 nights at Holiday Inn Express Downtown. The room was very nice with small refrigerator, microwave and Kureg coffee maker. Really nice breakfast served every morning and fresh brewed coffee anytime. The staff was very accommodating. Location is close enough to downtown area that you could walk to it. There is a Puplix right next door. We chose to catch the free bus called DASH, which we caught right next to the Publix. The buses picked up about every 45 minutes. Would definitely stay again for the price we paid for being close to downtown Charleston."

"We have stayed at Emeline multiple times throughout the years. Our first few stays after the opening were wonderful, the last few ones have been hit or miss. We didn't have a big issue this time but have been disappointed by the quality of the service and the cleanliness, or lack of. We booked a suite for 3 people with one king bed and one sofa bed. The sofa bed didn't have any bedding or pillows so we asked the reception to send housekeeping. When we got back to the room, the sofa bed was open and the sheets were lying on top but the bed wasn't made. At $500 a night, it would be nice not to have to make the bed ourselves. Everything we used in the room was not replaced (coffee pods, cotton etc). One day we got only one hand towel for 3 people. Little things but it was annoying to constantly have to deal with that. The room looked clean at first but baseboards, doors, the rack under the sink were really gross. When we checked out, we were presented with a bill that was 3 times higher than we expected. It turned out that 3 different mistakes were made, including the amenity fee that was charged twice per night for one room. Not sure how that can happen. It took us over 20 minutes to check out, the worst part was that the employee was not even apologetic, and borderline unpleasant. We love Emeline for its location but the service really needs to improve."

"Clean, convenient, staff friendly, comfortable. Public areas dark and outdated. Nothing lights and paint/carpet couldn’t fix. Room very nice, comfortable, quiet. TV outdated. No streaming, remote so worn couldn’t tell function on buttons. Overall, lower end 3 star at upper end 3 star price. "

"The heat was on in the room and we couldn't get it to turn off. The phone didn't work to call the front desk and there was no reply to the text I received from the hotel to text with any issues. We ended up unplugging the heater and spent a still very warm night. "

"The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring Charleston on foot—whether you’re shopping along King Street, dining at Husk or FIG, or taking photos around Rainbow Row. The rooms are spacious and clean, though the bathrooms feel slightly dated. Our room offered a great view of the bridge and the bay. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. We would gladly stay here again."
