Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will help get your Altaussee holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you've got all the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, drills, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to feel as comfortable as possible. Go for flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
