Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Asti escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, official ID, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling book and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you arrive feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
