We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a stress-free experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be zooming through airport security and discovering Avila before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, fuel and fireworks. Sports equipment like golf clubs, and objects that could injure passengers, such as firearms and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your aircraft are not the best place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and don't forget to bring a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a sensible choice.
- The result of lengthy periods of inactivity, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a condition that can affect passengers during long-haul flights. The good news is there are ways to significantly reduce the risk of developing it. Drink plenty of water, get up and wander the aisles as often as you can and wear compression socks or tights.
