Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Awash National Park could be a piece of cake or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your prime concern when picking what to wear on your flight. Consider your choice of footwear with care too, as swollen feet are a common occurrence. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good idea.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a good pair of compression socks or tights is also recommended.
