If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be testing. But there's no need to worry. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a pleasant start to your getaway in Bali. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, travel documents, credit cards and daily medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a phone filled with your favourite shows are some great options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
