Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Baoshan holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and something to read. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and batons, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and take a cardigan as it can get chilly inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- The condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this happening. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks can also help.
