No matter where you’re coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you’ve prepared well. Check out these handy tips and tricks that will get your Berlin escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you’ve got all the right stuff. Firstly, you’ll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your important medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, aerosol cans and flares. Sports equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and swords, won’t be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and remember to bring a sweater as the temperature can drop inside the cabin during longer flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a good idea.
- A condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It’s the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce your risk.
