No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Cambridge escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack in your passport, important documents, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are some wonderful options. If you plan to take a quick nap, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you arrive at your destination looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and choose shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to remove.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your legs and feet often.
