If you're poorly prepared, travelling can be tough. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips for a pleasant start to your holiday in Carlow. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you pack the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice in clothes. Prepare for temperature changes by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left for other occasions. Even though they may be your favourites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will appreciate it.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce your risk.
