Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Charlestown escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to pack a pullover just in case you get chilly. Go for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. There are many ways to minimize your risk. Wear a pair of compression socks, drink lots of water and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform some simple exercises in your seat.
