Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy hints that will help get your Forbes Hill holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any daily medications and perhaps a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
