No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. We've made a list of top travel tips that will get your Goto holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes box cutters, razor blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to slip on and off.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
