Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Himo could be as easy as pie or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some useful tips that will help you start your next big adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be easy if you bring the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a good idea.
- The condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this developing. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
