Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips that will get your Industry Hall escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, travel docs, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up, and opt for flat, easy-to-remove shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
