We’ve pulled together all the info you need to make your flight as stress-free as possible. Follow our top tips and you’ll be zooming through airport security and having a ball in Izmir before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you’ve got all the right gear. First things first, you’ll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, don’t forget to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and batons, aren’t allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fibre clothing and take a cardigan just in case you get chilly. Always opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and chunky boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
