If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be testing. But there's no need to worry. Follow these helpful hints and enjoy a stress-free start to your time in Kaliningrad. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your priority when choosing what to wear during your flight. Loose clothing is a sensible option, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
