If you're not prepared, travelling can be testing. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these helpful hints for a pleasant start to your holiday in Long Island. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack your passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite movies are always good options. If you intend to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a few toiletry items so you'll hop off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a jacket in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
