Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Mao could be completely stress-free or it could go on forever. We've put together some useful hints that will help you start your next big adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Layer yourself up in natural fibers and bring a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin. Go for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help lower your risk.
