Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organised. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Mariato holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive substances, such as bleach and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your top priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
