Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well organised. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Matsushima escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your important medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, pocket knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and firearms, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a jacket in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
