Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Narita holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To lessen your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your legs and feet moving.
