We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as pain-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and enjoying Nkhotakota before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack your passport, important documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a laptop filled with your favourite movies are some terrific options. If you intend to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll arrive at your destination looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose clothing is a smart choice, as are enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
