If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be overwhelming. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these helpful hints for a trouble-free start to your holiday in Nueva Guinea. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, drills, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
