If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be testing. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these useful tips and enjoy a comfortable start to your holiday in Penrhyn Atoll. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be easy if you take the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
