If you're not prepared, travelling can be a real challenge. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these tips and tricks and enjoy a comfortable start to your time in Pittsburgh. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as bleach and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
