If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be overwhelming. But there's no need to panic. Follow these tips and tricks for a stress-free start to your time in Portovelo. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a pleasure if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, any vital medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your prime concern when deciding what to wear on board. Consider your footwear with care too, as swelling of the feet and ankles are quite common. Flat shoes which are slightly roomy are always a good idea.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce your risk.
