No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Pukaki holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, pack in your passport, travel documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are some fantastic options. If you hope to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll touchdown looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Opt for shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
