Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Russell holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you pack the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife lurking in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, like aerosols and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and opt for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
