We’ve got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you’ll be hightailing it through the airport and discovering Strasbourg in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It’s simple — first, pack your passport, official ID, bank cards and daily medications. Next, you’ll need some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some wonderful options. If you plan to catch more than just forty winks, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you touchdown looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and poisons, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer up with loose, natural fibers and bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Always opt for well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked baggage.
- A serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It’s the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises while seated helps to prevent this developing. Wearing a good pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
