If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be testing. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these tips and tricks for a pleasant start to your time in The Black Hills. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean pair of socks and a good novel. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your important medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, drills, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and objects that could harm passengers, such as guns and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Opt for easy-to-remove footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a pullover in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To minimize your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
