No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Tvaaker escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, important documents, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favourite movies are some great options. If you hope to take a quick snooze, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and don't forget to bring a sweater as it can get chilly in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a good choice.
- A condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing foot and leg exercises while seated helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks is also recommended.
