Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will get your Uppsala holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, official ID, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet filled with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you hope to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a few toiletry items so you'll step off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by dressing in layers, and pick slightly roomy, flat shoes like sneakers.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
