My fiancée and I were hoping for a quiet, relaxing stay at Locanda Gulfi. From the outside, the hotel promised everything we wanted: A gorgeous stretch of Sicilian countryside, a large pool, well-kept grounds.
What followed was sadly the worst vacation we have experienced so far. Unannounced, the hotel celebrated a party until 3 o'clock in the morning, including loud blaring DJ music. On our inquiry at 11 pm, we were first referred to the fact that the music would end at 12am. Unfortunately, even then it was not over - but only around 3am. So we had certainly not imagined the vacation - completely sleepless and therefore unrefreshed.
The manager of the hotel promised us compensation for this night. We were supposed to claim this via Expedia after the trip. Unfortunately, now that we are back home, this was not granted to us. Clear rip-off.
PS: Breakfast in Sicily is generally not very lavish. However, we had expected from a Michelin star award-winning restaurant a little more than dry bread and olive oil...
