"Our stay in Catania was great. The hotel manager went above and beyond helping us on multiple occasions. The area and views from the hotel were less than scenic but a short walk away was the dining, shopping, and historic areas. It was a little unnerving to find the hotel lobby door was locked on the inside so we could not exit without the desk clerk and his key when leaving early."

The demarcated area in the centre of the square seems to be relatively small – the former amphitheatre, probably built in the 2nd or 3rd Century during the Roman Empire, however, offered space for approximately 16,000 spectators.
