Location is on a busy roundabout. It would help if hotel name is clearly marked up in big letters due to location.

Convenient location!
Perfect location for Colchester town centre. Ideal for an overnight stay, maybe 2 nights at the most.
Beds were cheap, shower needed a proper clean, towel rail heater wasn't working and tea tray wasn't replenished.
Breakfast was nothing special, although it was cooked well.
Host was very pleasant and check in and out was straight forward.
Rigtig godt hotel, vis vi skal sige lidt så kan trafikken høres meget tydligt. Men der er mega god servis

Basic and clean
The gent who checked us in was pleasant enough and took us to the room, good job as it’s a maze of corridors, staircases and doors requiring key pass entry. The room itself was ok and clean. However, the bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable not conducive to a good sleep. The bathroom looks almost new, the shower itself wasn’t very powerful and the it was impossible to change the water temperature. The worst thing was the location mainly for the external noise. The room was facing the main roundabout and the traffic noise was constant until about 4.30am. Thank you to the motorcyclist who kept riding round town for several hours revving the engine and making as much noise as possible to keep us awake. It is the main walking route to a busy night club, so we had the pleasure of drunken shouting and arguments to also disrupt our sleep. The breakfast was OK nothing special cooked by the person who checked us in the night prior. Parking is offsite but close by you can pay by phone/email which was very useful. Free WiFi which was quite speedy and didnt drop out.
This experience was way below our expectations. It was very noisy in the room. The food tasted like it wasn't fresh and was rather scanty and not filling. No fruits to go with the meal or even a breakfast menu. The food that came was burnt. One of the curtains was broken and although they eventually fixed it the next day, we had to sleep with the window exposed and we were basically told to manage it. As if nothing was going to be done about it.
I am so sorry to have to leave such a negative review and I really don’t understand how this hotel has attracted anything other than one star reviews but here is our experience anyway. My two daughters and I booked a two night stay to attend a family wedding. Our confirmation said that check-in is available until 10:30pm but when we arrived shortly before 8:00pm everything was locked up and we had to phone the hotel number to get someone to let us in. We were shown to our room which was large but fronted onto an extremely busy roundabout. The weather was particularly hot so the windows were fully open and although the room was still at sauna temperatures we could not have a conversation over the roar of traffic. Dismayed I sat on the bed and I’m afraid I can only agree with the previous review that compared the bed to sitting in a bowl of blancmange. Although we had only been there half an hour or so we handed the keys back and drove down the road to the Premier Inn where we had a lovely stay. The chap who had shown us to our room did promise a refund for the second night which we never received but to be honest it was never about money, we could not have stayed there at any cost.

Needs better bedding
Owner is making improvements, but needs to sort out water pressure and desperately needs to invest in new mattresses, ours was lumpy and our friends had one that totally snack to the middle. Other than that it was fine.Owner is a young man trying to do it all himself - I wish him good luck.
We had a very pleasant overnight stay at St Botolph’s Hotel when we visited Colchester for a family wedding...
Fresh and clean rooms with a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty.
The only downside was the parking... the public car park behind the hotel was a bit pricey for what was effectively from 2pm to 11am the following day... had to keep topping up via mobile app. I’m sure if we’d not been in such a rush for the wedding we could’ve found a better way of doing things.
This didn’t detract from the stay though and we would definitely stay there again.
Just an overnight to catch a morning train. The room was fine, but up too many flights of stairs for my liking - oddly, the trip down by a convenient external staircase seemed much shorter.
The only person I met was a very polite and friendly guy who seems to do everything. Other guests suggested he was very helpful, though I didn't need much.
I had a water problem due it seems to poor pressure - not a big deal. Altogether a very clean, well-organised small hotel with a competent guy in charge who looked out for my comfort. No aircon or fridge, and those people who are sensitive to traffic noise might have a problem - I didn't. Recommended. Oh, loads of electrical points for tablets etc, and OK wi-fi.
The staff where very friendly and the breakfast was good! I enjoyed my stay overall, would stay again if in Colchester

Good for 1 night stays
Service good and efficient, bit of a rabbit warren with plenty of stairs. better signage would help. Breakfast was good and tasty, evening menu slightly expensive.
Good standard hotel well positioned next to Colchester Town railway station and walkable to town centre and main tourist area in Colchester
Excellent quality food, beautifully presented
Staff keen to be helpful. Room comfortable. Would stay again
Brilliant customer service, room clean and basic, unfortantely it was snowing when I stayed so couldn't do much activitys but I did manage to do some shopping.
