No bath in room

There was no private bath in the room. There was a powder room in the outer hallway and a full one a flight up. The room description is not honest and I can't believe I paid over $200 to USE A HALL BATHROOM. Otherwise the property is clean and well maintained, and my room was comfortable. The people were nice and well-meaning but I was a little weirded out by the owner greeting me with a hug and "welcoming me home."

Just perfect.

While my stay was quite short and we didn’t even spend the night, we loved every second of our visit. We were greeted warmly and shown around this nostalgic home with the breathtaking view. Perfect, comfortable and welcoming. If you have the chance to stay, you will not regret it. A+ all around.

The owner house keeper were so kind, informative about the area use of the house. The pre-made breakfast in individual bags where so sweet and yummy to boot. We so loved the beverage set up with multiple options for tea, coffee and drinks. We really felt at home and are looking forward to returning again.

Beautiful old house, that's well loved and well maintained. Deirdre was a terrific, and very accommodating when we hit some snags in our travel plans. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and Clean but beware of issues

Pros: Very clean, very friendly staff, nice balcony, breakfast was good. Cons: Extremely tight parking spots, not enough parking spots had to ask the owners son to move a car so I can park on Saturday, dog freely walks around and jumps on guests not on a leash even when we ask the owner to hold the dog she "calls" the dog and waits for him to come to her which he does not always do, no wifi or TV. Haven't had service since August 3rd and never mentioned it on the website or contacted me by email. False advertising because I paid a lot and these crucial services were not available and they knew of this issue for weeks. I asked for compensation and was offered $20 a night which in my opinion was not nearly enough. On the 2nd night, we asked were services restored they said no but they lent us a Hotspot router that we used our Netflix account on. To set up the router, we had to leave our room for 15min and the owner gave us a glass of champagne for the inconvenience. Too many issues. Overall: Beautiful place, very historic. Would not stay here again because they knew well in advance that these services were not available and did not tell us until check in. By then it was too late for me to cancel and find another place to stay. Also, its not professional to have a dog running around and not mention that on the website either. I ended up hitting my car while backing up into the rock wall of the parking area. Everyone should be aware of these issues BEFORE booking.

Dierdre was a great hostess and was the perfect balance of friendly and respectful of our space. Her house is well situated with Cold Spring Harbor State Park literally in her backyard and a fifteen minute walk from town. She put time and detail into making her space welcoming and comfortable, providing coffee, tea, organic fruit, and wine in the foyer. We had issues with internet on our last night because a large tree had fallen on/near the property but otherwise had no complaints. We highly recommend staying at the Harbor Rose and look forward to coming back, ourselves!

New Years Eve at the Harbor Rose

I went to celebrate New Years Eve at the Oheka Castle in New York. The rooms there were sold out since I planned this trip the last minute. So, I found the Harbor Rose bed and breakfast, a nearby Inn,online. The photos are accurate. I am so glad that I stayed there. A very pleasant New Year's Eve Celebration followed by a New Year's Eve breakfast with a lovely hostess and her guests.

Could use some work

The staff were extremely friendly but the place could use some work. Not sure if it was because I booked through hotels.com, or availability, but I was given a first floor room by the front door/front hall. It was a beautiful room but could hear every sound in the hallway, so was woken at midnight when people were coming home, and at 5:30 the other morning from an early riser making coffee. Also the gluten free breakfast was poor, for those with a gluten intolerance, better off going to town.

What a great place! my wife and I went for a quick get away and this place popped out of a fairy tale, a true family B&B with impeccable service and amenities presented in a beautiful historic home. Our hosts were very accommodating , very warm and friendly. Looking forward to going back, it was very peaceful nice place to just relax. Definitely recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed

It was very comfortable. It felt like a home of a relative not a hotel. Fantastic organic breakfast, Fruit from local organic farm always available. Relaxing atmosphere. Hiking trail behind the property was a bonus.
