"Had historic room but was up two flights of stairs and no lift. Restaurant meant a walk outside. Weather was good but would be a problem if not. Breakfast was £13. Was ok. Pool was £12 per day which we did not know until we arrived. Plenty of parking and lovely grounds. Some parts greatly in need of refurbishment."

"The night we arrived the hotel would not seat us for dinner. "Too busy" they said, "order food from the bar." We ordered food from the bar but they lost the order, though we had prepaid it. They had also lost the receipt for our payment. The result after more than two hours is we were left stranded with no dinner at a late hour when all the restaurants in town were closed. We had to leave the hotel on foot and buy sandwiches from an all night convenience store. The hotel offered no compensation other than a "free drink" coupon, useless to us (I don't drink). Altogether one of the worst hospitality blunders ever."

"Unfortunately our package included entrance to the spa , on arriving I enquired about using the spa but the receptionist said it was best to give the spa a miss as it was so hot it was like a greenhouse . As we had driven a way we didn’t want to be over heated rather have an hour relaxing before going out for the evening . Instead we looked for an outside area to sit and unwind with a cold drink . We found a seating area with a couple of tables . There was quite a lot of cups , glasses and plates on each table and a lot of ants on these . They still remained uncollected when we went out in the evening . Our room did have a small fan provided but unfortunately the fan caught in the grating protecting this emitting a loud screech . We found this out once we had retired for the night so didn’t request a different one and didn’t use it . The breakfast was very good and the waiting staff pleasant and efficient ."
