"The hotel's location was great, as it sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Gondar. It does make for quite a walk into the city itself. If you are not up for walking, there's usually a tuk tuk hanging out outside, or you can have the hotel call a taxi. It's convenient to eat at the hotel, especially during the fasting time, however their food was palatable but not the greatest. The staff was friendly though, and there's a great souvenir shop located outside of the hotel as well. Besides...

"Fantastic rooms with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Very comfortable and even top class linens. Lovely garden to sit in, great food and nothing is too much for the friendly owner and staff. They also provided me with an excellent guide by the name of Endaye."

"It is a very beautiful and quiet place. The rooms are huge and very clean. Beautiful terrace. But the best of all, the staff, expecially the one of the restaurant. I went for Simien for three days and my mother, which doesn't speak English, stayed at the hotel. All the staff took care of her like family! Also the manager, Miracle, was awesome!! "Personally, I loved the simplicity and minimalism of the hotel. The uniqueness. The noises you can hear through the walls. (I need noise to fall asleep and I was there over Timket celebration) I call this luxury. Wifi. A bed (with shiny bedding). A shower and running water. Friendly staff. A TV that I never used. (Like who needs television when life itself is entertaining enough). Transfer currency to Birr, as that is the only currency accepted. It states Complimentary water and transportation....

"The lodge is in a beautiful setting, the rooms were clean and with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The staff are friendly and helpful. The local area is not particularly good, but a short tuk-tuk ride will take you into central Bahir Dar."
