"Visited Ashnil as part of a longer trip. The other Lodges have excellent dinner and lunch meals and service. Here, we were told on arrival that each sitting would cost us a small fortune for what turned out to be very mediocre meals. You are in the middle of nowhere, so paying for these meals left a bitter taste in the mouth for a one-night stay. Service was inferior, period. The bathrooms are horrible - see photos. "The area in Vio is challenging. The staff was polite and professional. The booking did not show up and the rate paid for was not what expected. From the site it appeared to be a nice place and probably it was 20 years ago. The bug netting in room was not in good shape. AC was a fan and had to share bathroom. "This is the lodge on the property of Tsavo West national park (safari). It is of the high quality accommodation with an opportunity to see the wild life and game directly from the room's balcony and the terrace of the restaurant. Two water holes attract various species such as zebras, giraffes, antilopes, elephants and water buffaloes. "Just wonderful. You will not find this level of service even in Mombasa and Nairobi hotels. The staff is amazing as are the culinary creations from the on-site restraunt. There is nothing I can say negative about this experience. In the jungle living like a king. To those who expect National Geographic please set your sites lower. While you will see plenty of African animals the king of the jungle is elusive."
