It was a very old nice Inn in a historic part of Dubuque. Close to downtown.

Solon Langworthy is a sweet, secluded and unique B&B in Dubuque. To me, it fit into my image of Dubuque. The house is old with a lot of character and modern appointments. Old school trust abounds. No one greeted us- but there were welcome notes directing us to our rooms; encouraging us to have a beverage out of the refrigerator and to pop popcorn and watch a movie. The house is quick 4 minute drive to Main St or the Mississippi. It’s a beautiful city (that can get raging storms but the house is solid). I can with my daughters on a whim and we are leaving with a memory.

Loved the location close to town ... only a 7 minute walk. Tame deer all around.. BEAUTIFUL. Great staff, nice breakfast.. and sooooo quiet.

Reasonable Place to Stay in Debuque

The house was fine but not located within walking distance of major sites. We had the suite and all the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Everything was self serve. We did not see anyone the two days we stayed there.

Very nice. Room was wonderful

Room was spacious, great bathroom, breakfast was ready and at your own pace (so yes we ate a little after 10am, but easy, not rushed, and like the others, the waffel's were great with fresh fruit on top!). I will stay again next time out. The outside could use some work, but it is clear the owners have been doing projects and working around the house. So all in good time.

Solon Langworthy Dubuque B & B

Very nice place. WE both enjoyed it as a comfortable, clean, and restful place for our 21st wedding anniversary. No interaction with owners/managers disappointing. Why have a B & B if you can't converse with the hosts, or make requests?

Really cool converted, older house

It was slightly strange that no one was there to check us in, and that there was trust to find our room, but I did really enjoy the open kitchen in the middle of the house, so that anyone can use the fridge/freezer and grab snacks at night. The only issue I really had was that the only hot breakfast option was a waffle maker with pre-portioned batter in the fridge. It was a little thick because the batter had been sitting all day and night. Still tasty, but when I book a B&B, I usually expect to have freshly cooked breakfast by the owner/s. The whirlpool was lovely, and the overall feel of the older house was great! I would definitely stay here again!

We were able to stay for just the one night, but it was clean and comfortable - a very good place for a getaway.

We thought that we were getting at least a queen size bed. The mattress was so hard that my husband couldn't sleep. The lighting was really poor and hard to get ready. We never did see anyone that ran the place.

Convenient location and quiet.

Nice location and easy place to stay when around town. Overall was quiet and didn't spend time in the room but main negatives are the internet wasn't available and there is no Cable. The room smelled musty and had no AC to run to dry it out. The room we had was two rooms /w a jack/jill style bathroom. The bathroom had no toiletries, hair dryer or standard things you would expect to find. Water pressure in shower was severely lacking.. The mattress was ok in one of the rooms but the odor was strong enough that it was an issue. Was quiet and good location though but wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there for an extended stay..

Bed and muffin

We like the experience of meeting our hosts and sharing a hearty breakfast with other guests. Neither of these occurred at this establishment. The room was adequate, but it took forever to get enough water in the tub, and there was inadequate light for shaving or applying makeup. Breakfast was a store bought muffin and selection of dry fruit. We would choose a similar priced motel rather than return.

Comfortable stay!

Overall, we loved our stay at the Solon Langworthy house. We stayed in the downstairs room. Awesome tub. Other reviews are right about the small toilet area, but it was fine for my partner and I. We ended up checking in a little late -- the owners were accommodating. The only thing that could improve was the kitchen situation. Breakfast was fine, but there were no instructions on what to do with the dirty dishes. There was a scrub brush in the sink, but no soap. I would have appreciated a sign saying whether to leave the dishes on the table, put them in the sink, or put them in the dishwasher.

No hosts or other guests at this work in process

Took 3 calls to get entry and check in instructions. No one at the B&B. Looked pretty bleak when we walked up. House being reconditioned. Our rooms were OK and clean. Air conditioner next to bed kept one of us awake. Fan over bed is also noisy. Breakfast is self service in the kitchen, like an upscale Motel 6. Nice 2 person tables set up, flowers, fresh fruit, muffins, waffle maker, juice, coffee, bread cereal. Probably as good as could be expected from 2 people holding jobs and running a B&B. We had the whole place to ourselves.

Comfortable and pleasant 1 night stay

Guests in past praised on its privacy. It was quiet and non intrusive. We enjoyed the self serve continental breakfast, which was conveniently across the hallway. We stayed in the single room on first floor. Bed was comfortable, onsite dvds to watch. The bathroom layout was unusual but there was a soaking tub, which also served as shower with a handheld sprayer. The place was undergoing exterior work on front porch and driveway. It will look very nice once completed. Location is convenient to downtown and was easy to find. Its low key and not flashy. We travel simple so it worked for us.

Dubuque weekend

Great two days. Most comfortable and relaxing stay we have had in a long time. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a good time.
