"On arrival had to carry cases up to the first floor, no lift no staff to help, first bedroom dirty and had no mirror. We were given another room still not very clean, shower had hardly any pressure and mould around the silicon. We were told there was a restaurant when in-fact it was more like a bar/ cafe. There was a coach party at the hotel and when we went down for breakfast they had left sometime before, so although there was a lot of breakfast food on the buffet heating plates it had dried out and fried eggs hard.
The receptionist at one time apologized for the attitude of one of the members of staff. Probably one of the worst hotel's we have stopped at. There was a owner did ring us later in the day and gave us a 20%,discount for which we were thankful"
"While I was traveling by bus, it seemed to have got ignored by the owners, who send each time replies for car drivers instead of an individual one.
Entry felt challenging ( for me) esp after 9 hours of bus travel.
Bed was comfortable enough and I was able to have a good night’s sleep and for that point I would recommend it, despite the rest of the issues.
Toilet was blocked on the last morning I stayed and no one answered my messages at the time.
The impala guesthouse is out of the main town and I found to walk to the bus stop by the coop took me around an hour- something for others to bear in mind when walking.
There is a nice walk close to the sea and then after the bridge a nice walk along the river.
The bus ( eg ember) to get to Orkney takes just over half an hour."
"Overall a good stay. The check in times are strict, no chance of getting in a touch early. Not many food options around for evening. Breakfast was good. Probably wouldn't choose the shared bathroom option if I had a choice, being on the top floor with bathroom next floor down was a bit of a chore. Secure parking for motorcycle round the back."
"The water in the shower was far too hot. There was a sign warning of hot water, but it was actually too hot to stand under, and i am an adult. There is no way you could have put a child in the shower. Apart from that, it is what you would expect from a Premier Inn. "
"Room and bathroom were small but clean. Staff was very, very helpful and kind. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel is old, but has character. The breakfast was very good and generous."
"The staff were great. Polite, attentive, courteous. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Added bonus was the lift for going to and from floors."
"Our host was extremely helpful and friendly to us upon our arrival. She escorted us to our room and answered any of the questions we had. The bed was extremely comfortable, coffee and such was available as was the internet. Room was large as was storage for luggage and hanging closet. The Highlander Breakfast was amazing along with various other juices yogurt etc.
Pricing was great as well as on premise parking. This is a highly recommended stay for sure."
