"Hotel is dated but definitely clean, and well kept. Staff is helpful and provided good customer service. The beach needs to be cleaned, too much seaweed and many rocks, no able to enjoy it. The good options are limited and lacking flavor, the beverage choice is lacking as well. Hotel is located a bit remotely and leaving the facilities will cost you a fortune. "
"This hotel is vintage. The rooms are old and if you get the economy room its obvious. Spend the extra if you need more space and a decent view. The restaurants have great service. The breakfast vouchers were a blessing to compensate for poor WiFi. All in all it was a C+ and I was ready to go."
"Our stay at Barmels Villa was very disappointing and stressful from beginning to end.
Communication was poor from the start. We attempted to contact the staff multiple times before arrival but received no response. Check-in was especially difficult because we did not receive any instructions until the day we arrived. We had to call the number listed on Orbitz, where a cleaning staff member answered and helped us access the property. Later, staff from Las Palmas Hotel contacted the owner so we could finally receive the code to enter the room.
When we entered the villa, it was not properly prepared. The air conditioner did not work, and although the weather was manageable, this is still unacceptable. Basic amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were not provided. There were four guests, but only three towels were available.
Several maintenance issues made the stay uncomfortable and unsafe. Two window blinds were stuck halfway open, leaving no privacy. Ceiling lights were not working, and there was no proper supply of toilet paper, only a partially used roll. We also found ants in the room.
Most concerning was the unsafe bunk bed. The ladder was missing screws and was rusted. On the first night, one of the children was injured and scratched her thigh badly enough to bleed. We attempted to contact the owner immediately but received no response.
We reached out to Orbitz for assistance, but they were unable to get a response from the property either."
"Camp Bay Lodge is a gorgeous oasis in the east end of Roatan, the perfect place to decompress from your busy life at home, facilitated by a team of simpatico employees who make everything feel easy and carefree. I loved my studio room, the quiet and tranquility of the property, and swims in the ocean. From the Lodge, I took walks in the area to explore the nearby village and the amazing Port Royal National Park. The homecooked food in the Lodge's restaurant kept me energized, and a cast of interesting guests kept me entertained. This place is the antithesis of the West End of Roatan, and is ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet. Thanks to everyone at Camp Bay Lodge for a stellar stay. "
"This place is a gem. Booked for a layover day and would definitely consider going back. Convenient location great services. Amazing access to good wading on a good sized flat with bonefish. Looked like great dive shop."
Fantasy Island Beach Resort, Dive and Marina All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"Truly the most beautiful beach we saw during our entire time on the island. This private island is absolutely gorgeous. The beach alone makes it worth the visit.
The rooms could use some updating, and the food felt more like filler food than anything memorable. That said, the drinks kept coming and the beach was easily the best we experienced anywhere on the island.
If you want to avoid crowds and simply enjoy a stunning beach in a peaceful setting, this resort is a great choice.
Unfortunately, you will need to wait for them to rebuild. The resort actually burned to the ground the same day we checked out. Quite a shocking end to an otherwise beautiful stay."
