"Great place to stay and use as a base for hiking in the EC Manning Park area, but be aware of some drawbacks.
Rooms were good overall and generally quiet, but in the evening and early morning doors banged and lack of soundproofing on the room doors made this quite disturbing. Bed was comfortable and rooms very clean. Lack of air-con meant that the window needed to be open all the time, but it has fly-screens so no worries about bugs coming in.
Stay were friendly and generally helpful, but surprisingly didn't know much about what to do in the area or where best to view animals (beavers for example).
Some work was going on to update the property, which should help things.
Sadly the bit that you would expect to be great, being that you are 70km from the nearest town, was a real let-down - the restaurant. Food was adequate at best - nothing bad, but nothing to write home about. Choice was limited, and various items were out of stock, including hash-browns at breakfast. Saying that, there were some great beers on tap in the pub.
Overall a mixed bag. We probably would stay here again, and hopefully the new owners, with time, can improve on the rough edges."
