The hotel looks good and is in nice grounds, we arrived when a big wedding was going on. We had booked 3 months earlier and were disappointed to find that our 2 rooms were literally at oposite ends of the hotel and could not have been further apart. We asked for the staff to look at that and we managed to end up in the same part of the building but on different floors, still not ideal. That evening after we had arrived we were looking for somewhere to eat, the bar was full so when looking for something and browsing the menu for a bar meal we were whisked off to another dining area with no discussion about other options or chance tom see the menu, it was ok but expensive and we may have chosen to eat elsewhere if we had had a chance to think about it! The following morning, we went to breakfast, we thought we had booked breakfast when we booked the hotel, it turns out we hadn't, our mistake. When we went for breakfast the staff just sat us down to eat despite not being able to find us on the list so we assumed that we were booked for breakfast. We were disappointed to find on checking out we had been charged £15 each for it without the hotel agreeing with us first. If we had known that we would probably have gone in the car to the Toby Carvery 5 mins down the road and eaten for £5 each and had the same thing.
Overall nice location, slightly tired rooms, nice reception staff but lacking in terms of service, transparency, communication and organisation.
