Riverview Inn & Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel
8/10 Good
"This hotel would’ve been awesome back in the day! It has a very old world European feel with all the opulent dark wood work. We stayed in a suite which was very large with two bathrooms and lots of room to spread out. The breakfast was ok and the condition of the property was dated and worn. They are in the process of renovating the first floor. Once the hotel is fully renovated, it will be a great place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and we rested well. The view from the riverside is pretty quaint."
"I was disappointed in the breakfast offerings. There was basically no protein available that wasn’t tied to sugar. There was yogurt, the only protein, but it was the fruit yogurt which is full of sugar. Otherwise, there was peanut butter, but that was a sugary kind, not the plain peanut kind and that would have been eaten with unhealthy white bread.
Otherwise the hotel was a good bargain. "
"The staff was wonderful and very friendly. When walking in the entrance was clean. You are hit with a stronger than normal smell of cleaner which was a bit odd. Beyond the lobby, the hotel seems to be in the older side and does appear to require updating and repairs. By all means it was not straight up gross but it was not my level of liking (apparently I am bougie). Hallways smelled pretty “herbal” but that is not the hotels fault. Once in the room, it was clean but did not look like the photos shown when booking but quite a bit more aged. It was most certainly not my most favorite stay and a bit pricier for the quality of the hotel but it was convenient for having to make a last minute call for a family funeral. Just was not expected based on the what was shown when booking."
"We had a mixup with Expedia regarding our reservation and the manager was AMAZING. He refunded our deposit and gave us a room. He also recommended a restaurant which gave us a discount for staying at the hotel. There was an old stain on one of the pillowcases, but we just switched to another pillow, there were so many! We would definitely stay here again."
"The room was great, pillows were a little too soft, but they give you plenty of them. The room above us was causing a ruckus with people running around and bouncing. Went down and front desk after we couldn’t get them on phone took care of it. "
