Oli and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Wi-Fi, though, was spotty. The room facing the street could be noisy at times with late night revelers from pubs at the other end of the street.
This beautiful colonial hotel is within walking distance to all turist sites in Georgetown.
The staff is super friendly, the food and fresh juices were delicious. We loved it and hope to go back next time we go to Penang. Absolutely recommend it!
Have been there for Christmas 2016. Unfortunately just for two nights. The stay was great and the whole city was especially in the evening a big party. The people were friendly, helpful, communicative and very very relaxed.
The owner has taken great care in restoring the property, which features a delightful interior courtyard as well as tastefully decorated rooms. We were able both to check in early and check out late on our stay. The property is located in a quiet but still central part of Georgetown - just a short walk to the little India area, and to the nightlife on Chulia Stree. One thing to note is that no staff are on-site at night, and guests are given a key to lock and unlock the main door if they leave the building (a bit daunting at first given the size of the door, but certainly not a problem). Worth noting also that the wifi was easy to connect to and reliable/fast. The owner was very helpful, both with suggestions for shopping and local sights, and also in arranging transportation to the airport on the day we left. Defintely a place to return to on future trips to Penang.

Liked: Cleanliness
Nice stay. A beautiful hotel. Wifi connection is weak and would perfer tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Staff at the hotel are lovely and very helpful; the cook/handyman went out of his way to make sure I was happy and the cleaner does her job very well.
Inside the room, the was a thick layer of dust/cobwebs on the 2 large ceiling lights and where the ceiling meets the wall, which is not nice to look at when you're lying on the bed! (not the cleaner's fault, as the ceilings are very high and hard to reach - however, they should be cleaned at least once or twice a year).
The other thing that was quite disappointing was the large amount of mould around the shower tray. It's a small hotel and it's not really a huge expense to replace the silicone.
There were also long cracks in wall that needed to be filled and painted over.
I was offered a free upgrade to my room, as only 2 rooms were occupied at the hotel (including mine), during my stay. But I declined the offer because the other room was very hot and stuffy.
It's not only the room that required attention. In the downstairs lounge area, there was a large amount of water leaking from the glass ceiling.
For the amount of money charged for the room, I would expect better.
The hotel is beautiful, in a heritage building that has been lovingly restored. My room had high ceilings, wood floors, and shuttered windows that look out over the street. The hotel staff was warm, kind, and very helpful, and they provided delicious local breakfasts and high tea each day. One of my best stays in Asia.
It is a lovely hotel in colonial style, located in a very convenient spot of old town. From the hotel you can walk 10-15 mins to Armenian st., Cannon st., Campbell St., etc. And 20 mins to Penang street where you can find the best cendol of the town and lots of famous restaurants around that area. The room is very clean with lots of facilities is room such as small fridge, tv, hair dryer, safety box, water heater but unfortunately I only can connect wifi at the common area downstairs not in my room. Breakfast at the hotel is awesome. There are 2 choices of breakfast and we chose the local breakfast, Roti with egg + Nasi Lemak. It's quiet big breakfast for us but we manage to finish it all.
The staff there are very friendly, polite, caring and helpful. I had chance to talk with them and It showed that he does his job from his heart. If I have chance to go back, I will definitely stay here.
I could enjoyed the atmosphere of old peranakan house at this newly renovated hotel. The location was also good, walkable distance from main streets such as japan penang and chulia, and easy access to most of sight seeing places including red garden howker centre. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful for traveling around. Thanks to all of these, I could have relaxed and fruitful vacation in Penang!
Probably isn't the most suitable B&B for a business traveler but it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself. If you want to stay a night and then enjoy the sites of Penang, give it a go. Staff were so pleasant. I couldn't get wifi in my room but it was fine in the main common area. I will come back and stay here for sure if on holiday. Recommend You Le Yuan gives earplugs to guests staying in the room closest to the road. Those boys at the school opp are so noisy and Friday mornings is a symphonic band practice with bagpipes at 7am
This hotel is located in the old part of Georgetown. The equipment is new and it is very clean. The owner is very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there.
We enjoyed our stay in You Le Yuan very much. We love the hospitality and ambiance very much and will definitely be staying in the same hotel for our next visit to Penang, Georgetown!
Nice house in Love Lane, Penang. Comfortable bed and pillows. Only the air conditioner is not cool enough for the big room space. Workers there are friendly and helpful. Good experience here.
It is a small place with only 4 guest rooms. You are treated special. We arrived late at night but when we got there, they were waiting for us.
The place was quaint and really nice. I love how you see the special care and attention was done in restoring the place. Its like going back in the olden days but with the comforts of today. We ended up taking lots and lots of pictures.
Facilities: Home away from home; Value: Great deal; Service: They were like friends; Cleanliness: Brand new ;
This was our favorite place to stay in all Malaysia, we feel lucky to have found it
Conveniently located - with lots of great street food within walking distance. Small, and quaint, with simple, yet attractive decor.

Good boutique hotel, but poor service
Booked the 2 rooms in the hotel from Hotels.com. The hotel renovated from an old house, pretty new and full of vintage furniture and nice decoration like the others mentioned and just the same in the pictures showing on the internet. We love the house but we think the service really needed to improve.
1. Only 1 people manage the whole the house. I think it is manageable, but the people should work harder.
2. we have stayed for 3 nights, no cleaning in 3 days, not even pick up the garbage, we have to do it all by ourselves. All the rooms are on 2nd floor, requested to take off the shoes when we go through the high and long stairs to the room. We found sticky thing on the stairs along to the room when we first entered our room. I had to wear on my own slippers on a floor not moping for 3 days.
3. I would like to have breakfast at 8:00 then I could go out earlier to avoid the sun. Been asked if I could have breakfast at 8:30 due to he needed to go to market to buy food for dinner. I agreed. I ended up to wait for my breakfast till 9:00. After my complaint, the breakfast was on time on 2nd day at 8:30. Late again on 3rd day so I had to skip my breakfast.
Two reminders, 1,the studio is west sun facing, really hot in afternoon even with the aircon. The other three rooms should be no problem. 2.Also need to consider if you are willing to go through all long stairs after a long walk in Georgetown, particularly if you have 2 rooms on different wings.
It's an old house that has been turned into quaint boutique hotel. Very strategic location. Don't choose the room facing the street, though, it can get very noisy at night with speeding cars (despite the small lane) and fireworks (we cane during Hari Raya holiday).
Really nice place to stay where I find the furnishings really capture the timeless appeal of the 30's. Love the location too as it is very convenient for me to move around.
Perfect gateway with a beautiful and historically rich Bed and Breakfast. Kit the owner and manager has put in a lot of Love into the restoration work of this cosy shophouse on the magical Love Lane. Stepping into the hotel, we were greeted by a cheerful Kit and the manager/chef Narish. The restored furniture and artifacts are a visual treat for your eyes. Each piece has a story and Kit shares it willingly to his guest. A great engaging story teller. In fact we enjoyed our daily breakfast chats that we ended up lingering longer in the hotel instead of touring Penang. Check in process is very fussy free. Breakfast yummy. I will definitely be back and I am planning to book the whole hotel for a birthday party weekend.
