"We had an excellent stay here. The family (owners) are both warm and friendly, and the views are amazing. The room and bath are both spacious with a screened window for fresh air. Breakfast was typical Italian sweet breakfast, but they pivoted to accommodate my dairy allergy. Their on site restaurant is open for dinner on the weekends, and the food they served was delicious- my husband especially enjoyed the house made cheese and yogurt. "Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom....

"Everything was very clean! The owners thought of everything. The rooms were very comfortable. Parking on site was great. We were offered breakfast for a small fee and it was very good. There are even espresso machines in the rooms! The owners are very lovely. I would definitely stay here again. Easy to drive into town."

"Overall great, friendly staff, good location, good room, the breakfast voucher at a cafe is nice (coffee/ croissant). One downside: the room was not very well soundproofed. You could hear what’s going on around and I.e. above you (steps). lt was not extremely bad, and didn’t really care, no problem. But if somebody is very sensitive they may inquire - possibly other room would be better, I had “old lace”"

"The Antico hotel is lovely. The rooms were comfortable and well designed. The staff was exceptionally helpful as I am traveling alone needed guidance. The breakfast was very good I used the spa and could relax for an hour I had great difficulty finding the hotel and needed help to locate and bring suitcases over difficult paths. "The location is very close to the Sassi, which was my main objective. The parking garage was also very close and convenient. Our room was fine, small shower but to be expected in Italy! All good. Now, let me tell you about the sweet host, so helpful! He set up breakfast for us, baked fresh croissants with jams and nutella, made wonderful coffee and offered yogurt, juice, Matera bread ( the best!) we were a group of 6 filling all of his rooms for the night. Perfect stay for us!"
