"This hotel was a 5 star caliber. The outdoor pool, the sauna, and Turkish bath were amazing. The staff were superb, attentive to every detail, very respectful, and accommodating to make us feel like we're at home. Rooms are very cleaned and confortable. The food was delicious and the restaurant staff very attentive to our food needs. We will definitely stay here every time we come to Cuenca."

"The place is an old "casona" from beginning of 1900. It is well maintained for the age but the wooden floors make sounds everytime you walk, but are especially noticeable at night when it's less noisy around the city. The place was clean, the room we got was bigger than we were supposed to get and that was a plus. The free breakfast had eggs, ham, sausages, white bread that you can toast, small delicious sweet bread buns, butter, and raspberry jam. Also, they add different kinds of fruits like apple, bananas, watermelon, and papaya. For drinks the options are juice(orange, lulo, tree tomato, papaya or watermelon), water, hot water for tea(chamomile, anis or mint) and black coffee. The coffee was not good so lower your expectations. The mattresses at the rooms were either to hard or to soft, but they were ok for the price range we paid. My lower back herniate disc was complaining after the third day at the venue. There was always a person at the reception desk during normal business hours."

"We have been coming to Cuenca and staying at El Dorado Hotel since the hotel opened around 1970 when my wife and I were married. We have been coming back regularly on our trips to Ecuador and Cuenca since. Our last stay was in July 2026. The El Dorado has been a consistently comfortable and enjoyable stay. And you can’t beat its convenient location one block from the plaza and cathedral. We don’t even think about going to a different hotel when in Cuenca."

"I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and had a wonderful time with my daughter. The place is beautiful, just like the pics. I loved the balcony (even though I didn’t enjoy it because we were always out, it was nice to have). The location was perfect. You can walk to historic district, local market, the park. The best part was having a washer/dryer. I love being able to come home with clean clothes."
