I loved everything about this amazing resort! Only wish we could've stayed longer! The food, the wine, the accommodations, the staff, the owner, the views, the pool, etc, etc, etc...all FANTASTIC! GO!!!!
The views over the valley are breathtaking. Dinner was super delicious but maybe a bit too much food. A nice selection of wines from their estate. Breakfast was served on the outdoor patio on a beautiful spring morning.
By far the biggest highlight of our trip to Italy was staying at La Ghirlanda. The property itself is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Umbria. The staff were incredible! Especially Claudia who made us feel welcome right away and was always there to help or answer questions. The food was the most delicious of our travels.
We also took a cooking class with, the owner, Amalija while staying and it was so much fun!
Beautiful property. Clean, quiet, comfortable.
The only reason I didn't give the area around the property a full 5 stars was that there really isn't much to do around it. But if you embrace all that La Ghirlanda has to offer you're sure to have an incredible time.

Loved it all! Felt welcomed and right at home all while being treated like royalty! Got a wine tour with Ivan, and was just wonderful ! Ottimo! Keep it up
The property is charming! Beautiful views! Welcoming staff. My only complaint was with the wifi which was spotty.
We had the most loveliest of times, and t the owners of the property which have had this estates for 3 plus generations—- lovely, friendly people.
The location and resort is absolutely breathtaking! However our experience was not. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed for dinner and later found out the chef left and they were closing the restaurant for the rest of the year. We booked this location as our first stop in Italy after traveling from the USA to fight off jet lag and specifically picked this place for an agritourismo experience. We didn’t want to leave the property at all and that was our plan. There is really no where to walk to get food as it is very rural. The was one restaurant that was slightly walkable (15 or so minutes away) but when we made reservations there they cancelled our reservations when they learned we were staying at the “competition resort” which was very petty. Thankfully we had a car to get food, but were left having to leave for any meal except breakfast.
There was no refrigerator to store food in our room and even though they serve cold cuts and bread at breakfast, they couldn’t offer us even a sandwich for lunch or dinner when we asked and were willing to pay so we didn’t have to leave.
I booked a stand alone room for privacy and to be able to sit outside and relax, but upon moving in they said they upgraded us to the main building. This was not an upgrade at all and was loud and lacked privacy.
The staff were extremely nice and apologetic and the saving grace of the place. They should have canceled all reservations and closed for the year without a restaurant.
We are so glad that we picked this hotel for our stay in Umbria and would have liked to stay longer. A hotel with a lot of charm, clean, very comfortable, and with great service. The hotel facilities are top notch. The scenery is lovely - both the views from the hotel and the surrounding area. Location is only a couple hours from Rome.
After two weeks traveling in Italy and seeing all the highlights, this hotel and location was a true "find". It was the icing on the cake. The staff is professional and extremely hospitable. The location is ideal if you like gorgeous views, silence except for the Church bells, good wine, (they bottle their own) beautiful, delicious food and warm, gracious staff that do everything they can to make you feel very special. As for myself, I can't wait to return!
One of the best hotels we've been to. If travelling by car and if appreciating the Umbria/Toscana landscape, this has it all. Great service, food, garden and surroundings. Calmness at the hotel and also in the pitoresque village Saragano closeby. Viewing the olive/wine/fruit trees from the garden from which the olive oil/wine/marmelaide served was produced adds to the great experience.
